About us

Lewisham Islamic Institute is a faith based supplementary school which delivers Islamic teachings and prophetic principles in a safe learning environment. A professional and committed team working to deliver an ethos centred on positively transforming pupils through the book of Allah (swt) and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). Our curriculum is broad and balanced and delivered in a comprehensive manner to suit the ranging needs of all its pupils.

The role

We are looking for a female Hifdh teacher to educate in a thriving and upcoming Islamic institute in the heart of Lewisham. The successful candidate should be able to not only teach but build meaningful relationships whilst managing a classroom.

Our teaching time runs Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday 5 – 7pm and Saturday 10:30am – 12:30pm. We are flexible to work in and around these days and timings.

Requirements:

• Professional and approachable character
• DBS cleared
• Strong understanding of Safeguarding in educational settings
• A solid understanding of the rules of Tajweed in theory and practice
• Strong subject knowldge on Islamic tenets
• Experience of teaching adult and children learners
• A strong ability to recite the Qur’an with the correct articulation and Tajweed
• Has memorised the whole Qur’an
• Strong ability to communicate in the English language
• Punctual and reliable
• Passionate teacher who has a genuine love for teaching
• Long-term commitment
