Children's Hifdh Program

“It will be said to the companion of the Qur'an: Recite and ascend as you recited in the world! Verily, your rank is determined by the last verse you recite.” (Tirmidhi)

We have 2 groups:

Group 1: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday – 5:00pm – 7:00pm

Group 2: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday – 5:00pm – 7:00pm

Pupils must ensure that they complete their homework on a daily basis and keep up with their revision targets. Students are pushed to not only memorise but to also revise and review in order to maintain their knowledge. Additionally, our hifdh programme will occasionally have lessons which incorporate the importance of not only displaying Qur’an on the tongue but also in the heart and via our actions. Therefore, teachers will guide students to additional sciences such as “tazkiyatul nafs” which embodies the concept on acting upon knowledge and not simply carrying “ilm” without any reflection, understanding or action.

The Lewisham Islamic Institute aims at offering selected students an opportunity to memorise the entire Qur’an. Our Hifdh programme is led by the Head of Quranic Studies Imam Saabir. Our programme occurs 4 days a week, 2 hours each day, students will be provided with a hifdh booklet which students are expected to abide to. Students must wear their uniform and carry their booklet and copy of the Qur’an to each class. Moreover, demand for this class is great: therefore students must be very attentive and consistent if they wish to retain their space in the hifdh programme. Students will be subject to an interview and assessment before admissions with Imam Saabir to ensure students are capable of reading the Qur’an fluently.
