Latest News & Updates in relation to Covid-19
Dear Parents/Carers.
Firstly, we would like to thank our families for their support at this time. A significant number of you have chosen to remove your child/children from the madrassa and self-isolate. The open communication between the madrassa and families has been appreciated. For those still sending their child/children to madrassa, we are appreciative of the trust you have placed in us in keeping your child/children as safe as we possibly can in relation to this virus.
Recently a number of decisions were made at the Lewisham Islamic Institute to minimize the risk to both student and staff of exposure to the virus. These measures included:
- Please could all Parents/Carers do not enter our premises, unless specifically invited to. Contact with the madrassa should be via phone calls, the text messaging service and email.
- Required meetings between the madrassa and families, such as child assessment meetings, will be conducted by phone.
- The continued education of students and staff on the best advice hygiene practices including hand sanitizing, covering of the mouth and nose with an elbow or a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
Currently, we are running our lessons on site. Face to face lessons will continue until the Government and Public Health England advises us otherwise. We may possibly have a second lock down where all sessions will be moved to online platform, however our service will be provided to you and your children as normal, with the same hours and timing of your child's session. Our online classes will be based as whole class teaching and learning, therefore your child will receive their normal 2 hours of learning session per week. For this reason we expect parents to continue making payments for their child's first installment (£75 per child) and there will be no refunds made in a case of a second lock down as classes will be running as normal via online.
We understand that some families may have difficulty accessing online learning. In such situations, we are looking at ways to provide hardcopies of materials for either collection or via the mail. This form of learning support is still being thought through.
Let’s continue to work together to keep our students safe, healthy and engaged in their learning.
